Culinary Tip

Prepare, gather and have ready all your ingredients in front of you before you begin cooking – this is known as mis en place


  1. Place the milk in a saucepan; add the lemongrass, margarine, sugar, vanilla and rice and spices. Heat the liquid until it is almost boiling.
  2. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  3. Remove and discard the lemongrass.
  4. Divide the rice between 4 bowls and top with the sliced strawberries and serve immediately.
